Home Learning

At Hook with Warsash we believe that pupils should engage in Home Learning as a way of reinforcing work that has been covered in school. It is also an opportunity for older children to prepare for life at secondary school. We would actively encourage parents to contribute to their child's development by providing a rich and varied home life with discussion between adult and child, using books, writing and drawing materials, imaginative and creative toys and a careful selection of television and programmes and use of ICT (including Google Apps and blogging).

Project Based Homework:

Project work will be set at the beginning of relevant half terms and there will be an expectation that pupils complete one (Infant children) or two (Junior children) pieces of work during the time period given.  Class teachers will provide further information about this.

Timings of homework:

Your child’s class teacher will Inform them about the days on which homework will be set and the expected return day.

Reading:

Please note that reading is an essential part of all primary children’s home learning and there is an expectation that this continues to take place on a regular basis during the project based homework half terms.  We would encourage parents and carers to share books with their children and make comments in reading diaries as often as possible.  Likewise children should also record their reading in the same way.

Mathletics and Times Table Rock Stars:

Pupil can also be encouraged to play maths games on Mathletics and improve their tables knowledge on Time Tables Rock Stars. All pupils have their own log-ins for these sites
