Collective Worship

As a Church School we celebrate a collective act of worship every day. Each week has a theme, linked to our school values and a focus Bible story or passage. Teachers and members of the church team ensure that the children have opportunities to worship in a range of different ways using many different resources e.g. drama, video, music, games, singing, discussion, prayer...

Children are also encouraged to help with leading worship. The Collective Worship Council meet regularly to share ideas, ask questions and make suggestions about worship in our school. Representatives from Year One to Year Six take increasing responsibility for planning, organising and leading many of our classroom worship times. Whole classes regularly lead worship on a Friday; working with their class teacher to plan and bring together their ideas.

Planning ensures that we follow the seasons of the church year and celebrate the main Christian festivals. Our links with the St Mary’s Church mean that we are able to engage in a number of joint services- Harvest, Remembrance, Christmas and Easter. For these, the whole school goes to the church and worships together. Parents, family members and friends are invited to celebrate these times with us.

Parents have the right to withdraw their children from Collective Worship. Please contact the Headteacher who will make alternative arrangements for the child's supervision during these times.

St Mary's Hook-with-Warsash Church

The school has excellent links with St Mary's Church, which is situated just at the end of Church Road. The Vicar or a representative lead Collective Worship once a week in school and the children regularly attend the church to celebrate Christian festivals.
