Top Tips for a Successful Residential Trip

Stubbington Letter, medical form and kit list

Hook-with-Warsash C of E Academy is committed to offering a wide range of educational activities and trips that enable pupils to develop self-confidence, personal organisation, teamwork, responsibility, leadership and environmental awareness.

Day trips are planned in each year group and are carefully chosen to complement the children’s studies in the classroom. Residential trips are offered in years 4, 5 and 6 to allow opportunities for children to develop independence and resilience away from home whilst offering team- building activities through a variety of unique and fun experiences.

The experiences we offer at Hook-with-Warsash are aimed at enhancing the quality of learning through ‘real’ situations both inside and outside the classroom.  These activities range from finding mathematical patterns in the school grounds, or exploring pond life in the environmental area, to kayaking down rivers in Dorset and visiting significant historical sites. Such learning can help children build bridges between theory and reality, schools and communities, young people and their futures.

Year 4 Two Day Trip to Stubbington

Two nights away from home in Stubbington Study Centre provide the ideal opportunity for children to tackle time away from home without being too far away. Visits to the centre are welcome before the trip to help familiarise the children with their destinations. The children are involved in team games, shelter building and mammal tracking. This was a new trip in 2016 and proved very popular. The 2018 trip will be £135. Costs for this trip tend to go up approx £5-£10 each year. For more details see the the trip letter above.

Year 6: France

Year 6 have the exciting opportunity to use their French and travel to France to enhance their studies about World War Two. Pupils have the opportunity to stay in beautiful surrounds on the French coast and visit locations that were key in the D-Day landings including Pegasus Bridge and Pointe du Hoc. They also have opportunities to use their French in the local market buying crepes and ice-creams. Ultimately their favourite activity is playing on the beach with their school friends-a wonderful way to end their time at Primary school.
