Breakfast and After School 

 

Welcome to Larks and Owls Club the Before and after school care at Hook with Warsash C of E Academy.

Our brand new building is on site, near to our environmental area and gives easy access to school facilities such as the adventure playground, the field and the chill out area. The club is managed by Elaine Barnatt and her small team of fully qualified staff.

The team aim to provide a safe, nurturing, happy and home from home environment for our children.

 

Larks Before school club

7.30am – 8.50am

Parents should bring their children to the front of the cabin. Your child will be signed in by a member of Larks staff.
Infant and Junior children will be given breakfast and have an opportunity to play and will then be escorted to their classroom for the start of the school day. 

 

Owls After school club

3.20pm – 6.00pm

Parents must collect their child from the front of the cabin by 6.00pm.

 

Owls Club closes at 6pm and all children must be collected by this time. Children will only be released to an authorised adult listed on your child’s registration form.   We have a mobile phone which is dedicated to the after school provision. Please use this number to advise us of any changes to collection arrangements or if you are delayed for any reason. Please do not leave a message on the school answer phone as the main school office will be closed. The number is 07726 771916.

 

Prices for Larks and Owls

The cost of Larks club (before school) is £6.50 per session and Owls club (after school) is £13.50 per session.

 

Charges for late collection

If a child is collected late, a charge of £5 will be made for every 15 minutes beyond the collection time. This will commence from the 3rd time the child is collected late. Payment will be requested on a half-termly basis and can be paid via Scopay – our online payment software. There will be no refund for late drops offs or early pickups or absence due to illness or holidays. Prices may be reassessed on an annual basis.

 

Staffing and supervision

The children are supervised at all times and the ratio of staff to children will be 1:10 for the majority of the time. In the event of staff absence this may vary. ‘Larks and Owls’ staff are also staff members of HWW C of E Academy and have an enhanced DBS check. It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that the child enters and leaves the school premises safely and is signed in and out of the Club at the start and end of the extended school day. Staff members will take a register of all children attending.

 

Safeguarding

The club operates under the same procedures as HWW C of E Academy with regard to safeguarding. A copy of the school’s Child Protection policy can be found on the school website.

 

Refreshments

Larks Breakfast Club will provide a selection of refreshments for the children including toast, cereals, fruit and yoghurts. A healthy, filling snack will also be provided to any child attending ‘Owls’ After School Club. Children are expected to bring their own water bottle to drink at both sessions. It is the parents’ responsibly to report any food allergies on the Registration Form when joining ‘Larks and Owls’ and to ensure that this information is updated should circumstances change.

 

Activities at Larks and Owls

There are many different activities available for the children to choose from.  Including all of the inside toys, crafts, games they can make use of the adventure playground, the school bus, the chill out area and in the spring and summer months, play on the school field.  The cabin looks out onto our Environmental area which can be used when staffing allows.

 

Booking and payment methods

Booking for sessions must be done via Scopay.  The booking system is opened for booking sessions each half term and is done on a first come first serve basis. If you are paying for sessions via Scopay please be aware that you will need to upload adequate funds to book the sessions. If you would like to pay using Childcare vouchers or by using a child tax free account please indicate this on the registration form or email wraparoundcare@warsash.hants.sch.uk.

Tax free Childcare accounts

We are able to process Tax Free Childcare payments.

When setting up payment via a Tax free child account you will need to provide the school regulator reference, which is 138710.

Universal Credit

If you are going to use the Universal Credit system to cover wraparound costs we can provide invoices detailing your child’s attendance and confirming amounts paid. Please email wraparoundcare@warsash.hants.sch.uk to arrange this.

 

Cash

We are able to accept cash payments.  Please go to the school office if you wish to do so.

 

Positive Behaviour and Discipline

Children are expected to show a good standard of courtesy and behaviour at all times. The ‘Larks and Owls’ Club is part of HWW C of E Academy and as such children are expected to follow the same guidelines as documented in the Behaviour and Anti Bullying Policy which can be found on the school website. Any discipline issues will be brought to the parents’ attention by the supervisor. If the problem persists or is serious, then the behaviour may be referred to the Head teacher. If it cannot be resolved the child may, at the discretion of the governing body be asked to leave the ‘Larks and Owls’ Club.

 

Sicknesses, Accidents, First Aid and Emergencies

If a child becomes ill during a Club session, every attempt will be made to contact one of the people listed on the Registration Form, to arrange collection. The child will be cared for until collected.

 

In case of a minor accident, basic First Aid will be administered. In case of an accident requiring more than basic First Aid, every attempt will be made to contact the parent/legal guardian to advise or discuss with him/her the course of action to be taken. All accidents and emergencies will be entered in the Accident Log. ‘Larks and Owls’ operates under the same procedures as HWW C of E Academy with regard to First Aid, Sickness and Accident Reporting. There will always be a member of staff on duty at the club that is first aid qualified.

 

PLEASE NOTE: The Club registration form contains an AUTHORISATION giving permission to transport your child to an A&E department if the parent/carer cannot be contacted in time. This action will be taken to gain appropriate medical treatment for your child. If you do not wish to give such authorisation please indicate on the registration form.

HWW C of E Academy ‘Larks and Owls’ CLUB CANNOT ACCEPT ANY CHILD TO ATTEND A CLUB SESSION UNLESS A COMPLETED SIGNED REGISTRATION FORM IS SUBMITTED BY THE PARENT/CARER TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE.

 

Making a complaint

If you would like to make a complaint, in the first instance please talk to the Larks and Owls manager. If it needs to be escalated please contact Sara Willoughby, Head teacher at Hook with Warsash C of E Academy via the school office email or phone or email wraparoundcare@warsash.hants.sch.uk.
