Mrs Emma McQuiston
I am currently a full-time mum, but I previously spent 17 years working for HM Revenue and Customs (I am currently a stay-at-home mum, and a parent of children who attend the Academy.
Previously, I spent 17 years working for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Ten of those years were in HMRC's head office, including managing the day-to-day running of the HR Director General's Private Office, working on the community side of the Sustainability Team (Corporate Responsibility) and Corporate Communications.
In my last role, I was responsible for the development and evaluation of Tax Facts - HMRC's tax education programme for young people. Tax Facts is a suite of videos and supporting materials that can be used in schools to educate young people about tax.
I have also led a network of HMRC's employee volunteers for many years, encouraging and supporting them with working in their local communities - predominantly in schools. So, I was able to see first-hand the positive impact and contribution that volunteers can make.
Previously, I was a Governor at The Hamble School, so I am able to bring skills and experience from that role to the Academy.
I have always had a passion for helping my local community and making a difference, in particular, working with young people in education. So, I am very much looking forward to working with and supporting the Academy.
I am an Appointed Governor appointed by the members of the Academy Trust and my term ends on 29 April 2023. I am a member of both the Finance & Personnel Committee and of the Marketing, Promotion and Media Working Group.
Pecuniary and other Interests: I have children who attend the Academy.
