Data for 2015/2016

KEY STAGE  OUTCOMES 2016

In May all Y6 pupils complete end of Key Stage 2 tests. The results of these test are used to measure the individual progress a pupil has made in their time at primary school before moving on to their secondary school. These results are also used by Ofsted and the Local Authority to measure the success of the school against other schools nationally.

In 2016, there were new Key Stage 2 tests in maths, reading and grammar, punctuation & spelling. These tests did not use levels but assessed pupils against a new national standard, reflecting changes to the National Curriculum.

Writing was not assessed in a test, but as a teacher assessment of pupils’ writing over a number of pieces of work, measured against a list of statements.

Progress:

Progress Measures this year are based around a scale where a score of 0 would equate to an ‘expected’ rate of progress. A score above 0 means that the child has made more progress than other children nationally with the same Key Stage 1 results (from when the child was assessed at the end of Year 2). The pupils’ individual scores are combined for a school score.

The DfE states that the key stage results cannot be compared directly with the results 2015 as the methodology for the assessments has changed, as well as the curriculum which has greatly raised the expectations for the end of each key stage.
