Mr Nick St John
I am a retired member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a recently retired magistrate (JP). I held many senior positions in finance during my career, leaving British Gas in 1996 as Group Chief Financial Accountant. I was not ready to retire and entered the field of education. I lectured in Further Education and on professional courses, completing this part of my career at Portsmouth University in 2010.
I am a regular attendee at St Mary’s and a former Church Warden. I currently co-ordinate the Home Groups and the Prayer Ministry Team, as well as assisting at Messy Church.
I assist a number of local groups, including Fareham Community Hospital, Warsash Horticultural Society and Titchfield Uniform Sales (Brownies and Rainbow), with the audit and verification of their accounts. As a Committee member of Warsash Tennis Club for many years, I assisted with the development of the Courts and Clubhouse.
Both my daughters attended Hook-with-Warsash and I have three grandchildren of primary school age and I am interested in this phase of education.
My leisure interests include the arts and travel as well as all sports, playing both tennis and squash.
I feel that my skills and experience in finance and human resources will enable me to make a positive contribution to the future of the Academy.
I am a Foundation Governor nominated by the Diocese of Portsmouth and my term ends on 6 September 2021.
I am a member of the Pupil Discipline, Curriculum & Early Years Committee and of the Forging Links Committee.
Pecuniary and other interests: none.
First appointed as a Governor: September 2017
