Mrs Gillian Pickburn

When my husband’s work brought us to this area over 30 years ago, we happened upon Warsash, where we put down our roots and raised our two sons.  Until my retirement in 2012, I practised as a solicitor with one of the larger South Coast law firms.  I was a Governor at Sarisbury C of E Junior School for 15 years, and for part of that time their Chairman of Governors.  I was also on the PTA committees of the infant and senior schools attended by our sons. I sing with the Fareham Philharmonic Choir and am a member of both the Warsash Sailing Club and the Fareham-Vannes Twinning Association.

I joined the Governing Body of Hook with Warsash C of E Academy in 2013, as a Foundation Governor, when the Vicar moved to a new parish. Following the appointment of his successors, the members of the Academy Trust retained me as an Appointed Governor.  My term ends on 13 June 2017.  I sit on the Pupil Discipline, Curriculum and Early Years Committee and the Sites & Buildings Committee.  I also have responsibility for Most Able & Talented Pupils and for Supporting Children with Medical Conditions.

Pecuniary and other interests: member of the congregation of St Mary’s Hook-with-Warsash Church.
