Ms Clare Turner
I was a Parent Governor at the school from 2009 to 2013 and rejoined the Governing Body as an Appointed Governor in 2014. My professional background is in Human Resources Business Development and Contract Management having worked for some large international media, IT and waste companies as well as a successful local Recycling Business. I believe that education provides an essential platform which enables our children's choices and decisions in the future. As the socio-economic environment becomes more challenging, the educational experience needs to be an exemplary yet diverse one which inspires individuals to achieve their personal best not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. It also needs to encourage robust yet flexible individuals who are adaptable but not afraid to challenge and think freely. However, it is also important that this educational experience is a shared one which welcomes input and dialogue from all parties including parents sharing ideas and information transparently and easily.
The Governing Body is accountable for ensuring that this is achieved and acts as 'critical friend' to the school, helping the school Leadership Team to set a positive strategic direction through effective questioning, guidance and understanding.
In my role as a Governor, I am constantly learning about the education system, relevant legislation and the challenges the school, parents and children face. Sometimes my own skills and knowledge enable me to assist the Governing Body to make informed decisions. But most importantly, I am part of a highly skilled and committed team that I feel effectively challenges the school and works in partnership with the leadership team there to make positive changes that ensure continuous excellence.
I am an Appointed Governor appointed by the members of the Academy Trust and my term ends on 28 February 2018.
I am a member of the Finance & Personnel Committee and have a responsibility fro Human Resources and Personnel matters.
Pecuniary and other interests: As I am theHampshire HWRC Contract Manager for Veolia ES Ltd, who are contracted by Hampshire County Council to manage 26 household recycling centres, I am regarded as a "Local Authority Associated Person."
